School Spirit Merchandise Now Available!

Dear Soundview Family,

Yesterday’s third through eighth- grade Curriculum Night was a success. Our parents joined our teachers to learn about Soundview’s curriculum, assessment, and student experience. Early Childhood through second- grade Curriculum Night is next Thursday, September 21, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM in Soundview classrooms. Curriculum Night is a structured presentation for parents starting just after 4:00 PM. Childcare is available starting immediately after school. You can RSVP for childcare HERE.

Before and after school care and clubs start next week! You can still register HERE. It’s also time to start thinking about winter activities. The ski/snowboard bus to Snoqalmie and lessons with Issaquah Ski School will be available again this year at Soundview on Saturdays throughout the winter. Registration is open for the 2024 season HERE.

Be on the forefront of 2023 fashion with new Soundview gear! Find shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and more HERE. Get orders in by September 29th as your gear will be delivered to the school starting the week of October 13th.

We recognize that some of our students are able to commute independently to campus. If you are giving your student permission to walk, bike, or take public transportation independently to or from school please complete this form HERE.

Today marks two important events for people in the Soundview community and around the world:

  • Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, begins today. You can learn more about the history, significance, and celebration of Rosh Hashanah HERE.

  • September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. The observation started in 1968 with Hispanic Heritage week, then expanded to 30 days and was enacted into law in 1988. Learn more and access resources HERE.

Look for classroom resources and activities recognizing both events in your classroom’s Toddle pages.

It’s almost time for fifth through eighth- grade Outdoor School trips. This year, sixth through eighth graders return to Mount Rainier Institute, and fifth graders travel to Naturebridge. Outdoor School is an important rite of passage. The experience allows students to practice independent choice in a safe, controlled environment away from home. They build a higher level of connection and trust with their classmates. Self-confidence and self-esteem are uniquely boosted during sleepaway experiences like Outdoor School.

Thank you for your partnership,
Chris

One more thing…
On this day in 1821, the Act of Independence of Central America was enacted. This act resulted in independence from Spain for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Learn more about the Act of Independence of Central America HERE.
