Important Dates and Events:

Dolphin Day - Tuesday, September 3rd
Dolphin Day is Soundview’s welcome and orientation event for new and returning students and families. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students and parents to visit the campus, see classrooms, meet teachers, gather relevant information, and ease any start-of-school jitters. While attendance is recommended, it is not required. If you cannot attend, don't worry! Here are the assigned times:

  • Early Childhood through Second-Grade: 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

  • Third through Eighth-Grade: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Families with children in both grade groupings can choose the time that best fits their schedule.

First Day of School - Wednesday, September 4th
Soundview has a rolling drop-off and pick up. Please use the west driveway to enter the campus and follow the directions from staff to ensure a smooth process. You can find a useful map HERE.

  • Drop-off Times:

    • Early Childhood and Kindergarten: 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM

    • First through Eighth-Grade: 8:20 AM - 8:40 AM

To ensure safety and efficiency:

  • Stay in your car and have your child’s gear ready.

  • Position your child on the driver’s side if possible.

  • Pull as far forward in the line as possible.

Stay Informed:

  • Weekly Friday Emails: Starting on Friday, August 23rd, you will receive my weekly emails with updates and important information.

  • Teacher Emails: On Tuesday, August 27th, at 5:00 PM, you will receive an email from your child’s teacher with classroom-specific information and your Toddle login details (Toddle is our online classroom management and communication system). The email will contain all the start-of-school information. Future classroom announcements will come via Toddle on Tuesdays. We recommend downloading the Toddle app for your mobile device.

After School Care, Clubs, and Activities:
Registration for the 2024-2025 school year will be available early in September.

Classroom Supplies:
There are no classroom supplies for you to purchase, Soundview provides all necessary classroom materials. However, families need to provide:

  • Band Instruments: For fifth through eighth-grade students, more information will be sent before school starts.

  • Chromebooks: Families need to provide their own Chromebooks for sixth through eighth-grade students. Students do not need Chromebooks for the first week of school. Teachers will provide additional information in their email to you on Tuesday, August 27th. If you have any questions about Chromebooks, contact Director of Technology Nikita Sharma HERE.

Medications:
If your child requires prescription or over-the-counter medication during the school day and you have not filled out the required form, please do so by visiting HERE.

Anything Else?
The administrative team is on campus and available to help. Please don’t hesitate to contact Office Manager Andrea Hjorten with any and all questions. Email Andrea HERE.

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Best regards,
Chris

One more thing…
On August 9th, 1936 African American track star Jesse Owens won his fourth gold medal of the Olympic Games in the 4x100-meter relay. Owens won his fourth gold medal in the 4x100m sprint relay when head coach Lawson Robertson replaced Jewish-American sprinters Marty Glickman and Sam Stoller with Owens and Ralph Metcalfe, who teamed with Frank Wykoff and Foy Draper to set a world record of 39.8 seconds in the event. In their strong showing in track-and-field events at the XIth Olympiad, Jesse Owens and other African American athletes struck a propaganda blow against Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, who planned to use the Berlin Games as a showcase of supposed Aryan superiority.
