Parking will be available starting at 3:45 PM each night, and childcare will be provided for all students. Please mark your calendars for the following grade-level Curriculum Nights:

  • Community Coffees are back on campus this school year, starting on Wednesday, September 25th which will take place from 9:10 AM - 10:10 AM in the Performing Arts Center. A Community Coffee is an informal conversation with parents, our school counselor, other faculty/staff, and me. I’ll bring a topic of interest, and it’s time to connect with our community. We’ve added morning and afternoon times to make these events more accessible. You can find all of the dates on the Community Calendar HERE

  • ParentEd Talk Series: We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with ParentMap to bring their ParentEd Talk Series to our community. Topics range from mental health to screen time to puberty and more. You’ll be able to join live or view a recorded link following the sessions. Soundview will host follow up conversations too. Explore the range of topics, renowned speakers, key dates, and mark your calendars by visiting HERE.

Around the world and in different communities, August is a month of recognition and awareness:

  • Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. It is celebrated to recognize the achievements of the labor movement in the late 19th Century when American workers began to form labor unions and advocate for better working conditions, reasonable hours and fair wages. The holiday recognizes when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. Learn about the history of Labor Day HERE.

See you next week,
Chris

One more thing…
On August 30, 1967, the Senate confirmed Thurgood Marshall as the first Black person to serve as a Supreme Court Justice. Marshall was no stranger to the Senate or the Supreme Court at the time. Marshall was confirmed in a 69-11 floor vote to join the Court. President Johnson nominated Marshall in June 1967 to replace the retiring Justice Tom Clark, who left the Court after his son, Ramsey Clark, became Attorney General.  Johnson said Marshall was “best qualified by training and by very valuable service to the country. … I believe it is the right thing to do, the right time to do it, the right man and the right place.” You can learn more about this HERE.
