Dear Soundview Families,
We officially launched the Soundview Annual Campaign this week! Our goal is to raise $365,000, and we need the support of our entire community to make it happen. Every contribution—big or small—makes a positive impact on the lives of our students. We invite you to make a gift today by clicking HERE or pledge your support HERE.

Last Friday, our fifth-grade class returned from NatureBridge. The students had an incredible time, learning and exploring in the great outdoors. You can relive these memorable moments below.
Today, we came together as a school to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The event featured performances, singing, dancing, and tables with educational information. Students and teachers alike enjoyed the festivities! A special thanks to Ms. Alexandra and our volunteers Natalia Zarate, Nicholas Wood, Monica Herrera, Cecilia Bastidas and Doug Allyn for helping make the event possible. Be sure to check out the photos from this joyous celebration below.

If you can’t attend a live event, no problem. After the talk concludes, all registered attendees will be emailed a link to watch the recorded session at their convenience.

Around the world and in different communities, October is a month of recognition and awareness:
October 3rd was Latina Equal Pay Day. This day is the approximate day Latinas must work into the new year to make what White non-Hispanic men made at the end of the previous year. Latinas typically earn only 55 cents for every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men and must work nearly 23 months to earn what white men earn in 12 months. Learn more HERE.
World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10th every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. It’s an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. The theme this year is “It's time to prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace". Learn more HERE.
Yom Kippur begins on October 11th at sundown, and ends at nightfall on October 12th. This is the holiest day of the year in Judaism. It occurs annually on the 10th of Tishrei, corresponding to a date in late September or early October. For traditional Jewish people, it is observed with strict fasting and primarily centered on atonement and repentance. Learn more HERE.
October 11th is National Coming Out Day. This day is an annual observance dedicated to celebrating and supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ community as they share their authentic selves with the world. This day aims to raise awareness about the importance of coming out, challenge stereotypes and prejudices, and promote acceptance and inclusion. Learn more about this HERE.
Thank you for being an essential part of the Soundview community. Your involvement and support makes everything we do possible!

One more thing…
On October 4th, 1927, sculpting began on the face of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills National Forest of South Dakota. It would take another 12 years for the granite images of four of America’s most revered presidents—George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt—to be completed.
