Another shout-out to parents Vik and Kiran Chauhan. Their restaurant Desi Bite House is our THIRD Soundview Spring Benefit sponsor! We continue to partner with our incredible families to help create a meaningful and memorable event. There’s still time to sponsor this special evening. We are especially looking for sponsorships of our faculty/staff tables and other aspects of the event. You can learn more HERE, or reach out directly to Director of Advancement Ryan Wasserman HERE.
On Wednesday night, we virtually hosted our 6th ParentEd Talk in the series, featuring an important discussion on “Confident Conversations: Guiding Kids Through Puberty and Adolescence.” If you weren’t able to join us live, don’t worry, you can watch the recorded session and gain valuable insights on supporting children through these critical developmental stages.

Around the world and in different communities, February is a month of recognition and awareness:
World Cancer Day is an international day marked on 4th February to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. World Cancer Day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration, written in 2008. The primary goal of World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer and is an opportunity to rally the international community to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer. The day is observed by the United Nations. Read more about this HERE.
I hope everyone stayed warm and safe during the snowy days this week!

One more thing…
On February 7th, 2019 baseball player and manager Frank Robinson died at the age of 82. Frank Robinson made history on April 8, 1975, when he became the first Black manager in Major League Baseball, taking the helm for the Cleveland Indians while also playing as a designated hitter. A trailblazer both on and off the field, Robinson was already a Hall of Fame-caliber player, known for his fierce competitiveness and leadership. His appointment as a manager was a groundbreaking moment in a sport that had long been slow to integrate leadership positions. Robinson’s role signified progress, breaking barriers for future generations of Black managers and front-office executives. His legacy extends beyond his managerial debut, he went on to manage multiple teams, mentor young players, and advocate for diversity in baseball. His impact on the game remains a testament to perseverance, excellence, and the ongoing fight for racial equality in sports. You can read more about this HERE.
