You and I are building a story together. It is a story that we all marvel at every day.

It is a story about our school’s children: their successes and their challenges; their delight and their disappointments; their family, friends, and their school, itself.

Every day, Soundview’s families, students, and teachers create an environment in which each of our students has the right to be treated with respect and care. They have the right to be safe. They have the right to be heard. Most importantly, they have the right to be themselves.

This is a story about alumna Alice Sampson who graduated from Soundview in 2017 and now attends Seattle University studying marketing. It is a story about alumna River Suttles who graduated in 2021 and is now a high school student at the Seattle Academy of Arts and  Sciences. It is also a story about all of you who have entrusted Soundview with the care and education of your loved ones.  Listen to their stories HERE.

I would like to explain a little bit about why your gift is so important. Soundview provides a caring and diverse environment. We support the Skills Collaborative, provide arts education, adhere to the International Baccalaureate standards, welcome a culturally and economically diverse population, employ a school counselor, and so much more. Building this story requires that we remain true to our values. We and our school must remain ethical,  rigorous, and compassionate. About 15% of our annual budget is devoted to student financial aid. We are very proud to say that approximately 36% of our students identify as People of Color, and many of them are first or second-generation immigrants. When you make a gift to Soundview, you ensure that this school is available to your family and the families of all your children’s classmates.

Creating this vibrant and engaging environment is expensive. The overall cost is about $17,600 per student per year. To remain open to as many members of the community as possible, we ask for about $15,418 in annual tuition.

The great news is that we have received early leadership gifts totaling $65,000. Our deep thanks to those of you who stepped up early.

That leaves us with $295,000 to raise. That is just about $1,800 per student. We really can do this.

Remember, because we are a non-profit, we can offer a special opportunity to our Soundview families: the opportunity to support this school’s diversity and inclusive programming that is central to our children’s well being and our community’s health. We offer the opportunity to give.

Soundview School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. If you give now, your contribution may be considered when you file your tax return after the end of this year.

We are doing everything within our power to use our funds in a respectful and judicious manner, but we need your help.

Please, click HERE and make your gift or pledge today.

Thank you,

Chris
