Project Night, Annual Campaign, Human Rights Rally and More!

Congratulations to Mr. MacCully and the fifth-grade class for organizing an impactful and inspiring Human Rights rally this past Tuesday, showcasing their dedication, preparation, and passion for justice!

Dear Soundview Families,

Our Annual Campaign is off to a great start. There is still work to do to meet our goal. Alumni parents and trustees Alison and Doug Suttles have stepped up with a December giving challenge. When Soundview reaches $20,000 before December 31st, the Suttles will match the amount raised!

You can give throughout the school year with a number of options to customize your gifts.  The Annul Campaign directly funds programs that provide your student(s) with the ethical, rigorous, and compassionate education that defines Soundview. This school year, our goal is to raise $365,000. Every gift matters and contributes to the success of your student(s).

This morning, our sixth-grade class led the December all-school assembly featuring the December trait-of-the-month “balanced.” We also heard a new poem from students, jokes and a skit from sixth-graders, and a song from Mr. Fred. You can learn more about our IB learner profile HERE, and see photos from the assembly below.

Project Night last evening was a resounding success, and we hope you and your student(s) had a wonderful time exploring the school and discussing student work and creativity. Thank you for celebrating our students' hard work and achievements! Be sure to check out photos from Project Night below.

On Tuesday, our third through fifth-grade students hosted Soundview’s first annual Human Rights Rally. Students delivered powerful and thought-provoking speeches, poems, and songs on the importance of human rights. They proudly displayed their impactful posters throughout the school and invited the community to stand with them at the front entrance in a show of unity and support.

One more thing…
In Atlanta on December 13, 1992, Manon Rheaume became the first woman to play in a regular-season professional hockey game. In the Atlanta Knights' 4-1 loss to Salt Lake City, Rheaume entered at the start of the second period with the score tied at 1 in the International Hockey League contest. In nearly six minutes, Rheaume stops four shots and allows one goal before she is replaced by the Knights' starter. You can read more about this HERE.
