Admissions Season Has Begun!
Dear Soundview Families,
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. For those with veterans in your families, we trust it was a meaningful day of reflection and appreciation.
Thank you to everyone who attended our Family Education Night last evening. Dr. Karen Pavlidis was insightful and offered valuable advice on supporting self-regulation in our children. A special thank you to our Soundview Parent and Guardian Association for sponsoring this event. You can find Dr. Karen’s slides HERE. We are in the process of editing her presentation video for confidentiality and will make it available soon.
This week concluded with a truly inspiring all-school assembly led by our seventh-grade students in honor of Veterans Day. They highlighted this month’s International Baccalaureate (IB) trait, “Open-Mindedness,” reminding us all of the importance of embracing diverse perspectives and experiences. To learn more about IB traits, click HERE, and view photos from this special event below.
We’re just one week away from one of the most cherished events on our calendar, Grandparents and Special Friends Day! This annual tradition brings warmth and joy to our campus as students welcome their grandparents and special friends into their classrooms for hands-on projects and fun activities. Registered guests will receive arrival details via email early next week. If your student does not have a registered guest, your teacher will be in contact with you.
Admissions is well underway! On Wednesday, Victoria hosted another Prospective Family Coffee in the PAC this week, offering families a firsthand look at what makes Soundview so exceptional. Victoria has been busy guiding tours and processing applications for the 2025-2026 school year. If you know families seeking an education that is ethical, rigorous, and compassionate, please encourage them to explore Soundview! A robust applicant pool is critical to maintaining the strength and health of our school community. Word-of-mouth is the very best way to generate applications. For more information or to schedule a visit, they can connect with Victoria HERE.
A reminder for our current Soundview families: Our early admissions process for siblings of current students is now open, offering priority consideration. The deadline for sibling applications is December 6th, 2024. For all other applicants, the deadline is January 31st, 2025.

Around the world and in different communities, November is a month of recognition and awareness:
World Kindness Day is observed on November 13th each year which provides an opportunity for people to conduct random acts of kindness and goodwill. The week is celebrated by donating books, food, or clothes to local communities and pledging to empathize with other people. Even the smallest act of kindness can go a long way, and you should never pass up an opportunity to help someone in need. You can read more about this day HERE.
International Day for Tolerance was observed on 16th November. This day is to educate people about the need for tolerance in society and to help them understand the negative effects of intolerance.Tolerance is respect, acceptance, and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, forms of expression, and ways of being human. It is the common theme for International Day for Tolerance. You can learn more about this day HERE.
Transgender Day of Remembrance is on November 20th. The Transgender Day of Remembrance, also known as the International Transgender Day of Remembrance, has been observed annually on November 20th as a day to memorialize those who have lost their lives as a result of transphobia. You can learn more about this HERE.
All the best,

One more thing…
On November 15th, 2001, Microsoft released the Xbox gaming console, dramatically influencing the history of consumer entertainment technology. Microsoft CEO Bill Gates first decided to venture into the video game market because he feared that gaming consoles would soon compete with personal computers. At the time, Japanese companies Sony and Nintendo dominated the field, and no American company had challenged them since Atari ceased selling its Jaguar console in 1996.
