Celebrating Our Faculty and Staff!
Dear Soundview Families,
Thank you to our outstanding faculty and staff! Our Soundview Parent and Guardian Association (SPGA) pulled out all the stops to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers enjoyed flowers, pizza, donuts, coffee, cards, and an ice cream social with students and families! A very special thanks to our SPGA and the generous volunteers for making this week possible and successful. View photos from the week below.
Thursday was our final orchestra recital of the school year. The performances showcased the exceptional talent and dedication of our students, including inspiring and courageous duets and solo performances.
Here are the May reminders and opportunities:

Shout-Outs For Soundview Students:
Over the weekend of April 27th-28th, Leander participated in the Vex Robotics World Championships held in Dallas, Texas. Vex robot competitions involve making a robot using an approved selection of metal and plastic parts to compete as a pair with another robotics team, against two other teams' robots. This stands as the largest robotics competition in the world, representing approximately seventy-six nations. There were over 13,500 teams competing in the regular season globally, but only 758 teams qualified to compete in Dallas which is only about 5% of teams. Leander's team ranked 6th in the State of WA for Middle School and got to go to the Worlds competition. His team finished in the bottom 10%, but that means they did better than 95.5% of the teams in the world! You can learn more about this HERE.
Also, a final note from 8th grader Evyn with the final results from her community project:
Dear Soundview Community,
I wanted to share my final update on my supply drive and community project. Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to make a substantial impact to fight period poverty! With all the amazing donations I received, I was able to assemble 136 period kits. Each kit contains enough products and variety to get someone through their cycle. I donated these period kits and additional supplies to the Lynnwood Food Bank. Food banks often struggle to keep up with the demand for period products, so your donations and the kits I assembled meant a lot.
Thank you, Soundview, for always being a community that steps up to help, to do the right thing, and tries to make a difference. Together we were able to make a significant impact. I couldn’t have made it this far without all of you.
Thanks,
Evyn

One more thing…
On May 10th, 1869 the Transcontinental railroad was completed, unifying the United States. On this day the presidents of the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads meet in Promontory, Utah, and drive a ceremonial last spike into a rail line that connects their railroads. This made transcontinental railroad travel possible for the first time in U.S. history. No longer would western-bound travelers need to take the long and dangerous journey by wagon train. You can learn more about this HERE.
