Enjoy the Break!
Dear Soundview Family,
I hope you all had a relaxing and joyful week. This week during our staff in-service days we had several training sessions: International Baccalaureate evaluation; budget planning for the 2024-2025 school year; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) scope and sequence work and application of an equity screening tool; generative artificial intelligence in education; and a school safety and emergency preparedness drill.
Some reminders as Winter Break approaches:
Participate in the Soundview Annual Campaign:
The Annual Campaign runs from December 1st through the end of 2023. This school year our goal is $360,000, and our Board of Trustees has offered to match any early gifts to the school of $1,000 or more that arrive prior to December 1st! Make a gift HERE. To learn more or get engaged with the Annual Campaign contact Advancement Manager Ryan Wasserman HERE.Plan for inclement weather:
It’s getting colder! Please be sure to provide your students with warm layers of clothing. We continue to work and play outdoors throughout the winter. Gloves, hats, and rain pants are all essential to keeping students happy and productive. As the weather changes, inclement weather can affect school operations. Soundview makes its own decisions about school closures or delays. We do not follow the local school district or other schools. You will be notified in the case of any changes to normal school operations. If you don’t hear from us, we’re on time and open!Save the date for Project Night:
Project Night is Thursday, December 7th. Project Night is when you and your child get to walk through the classrooms and hallways, viewing and talking about everyone’s class projects. Enter through the Performing Arts Center and pick up a program that will guide you. Parking will be available on campus after 3:45 PM.Early Childhood through 2nd-grade Project Night: 4:00 to 5:00 PM
3rd- through 8th-grade Project Night: 5:30 through 6:30 PM
Enjoy the rest of the break!
See you soon,
Chris

One more thing…
On November 24th, 1859 one of the most influential books of all times, On the Origin of Species, put forth the theory of evolution and described the process of natural selection. The author Charles Darwin argues that the diversity of organisms and their characteristics can be explained as the result of natural processes. You can learn more about this HERE.
