Around the world and in different communities, November is a month of recognition and awareness:
World Kindness Day is observed on November 13th each year which provides an opportunity for people to conduct random acts of kindness and goodwill. The week is celebrated by donating books, food, or clothes to local communities and pledging to empathize with other people. Even the smallest act of kindness can go a long way, and you should never pass up an opportunity to help someone in need. You can read more about this day HERE.
International Day for Tolerance was observed on 16th November. This day is to educate people about the need for tolerance in society and to help them understand the negative effects of intolerance.Tolerance is respect, acceptance, and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, forms of expression, and ways of being human. It is the common theme for International Day for Tolerance. You can learn more about this day HERE.
International Students’ Day is on November 17th. It’s a day when we remember the bravery of thousands of students in Prague who fought for national pride and the right to higher education. International Students’ Day is the perfect opportunity for us to pay honor to the students of the world. Students are the future, and these are the people and the minds that are going to take our countries forward. You can learn more about this day HERE.
Transgender Day of Remembrance is on November 20th. The Transgender Day of Remembrance, also known as the International Transgender Day of Remembrance, has been observed annually on November 20 as a day to memorialize those who have lost their lives as a result of transphobia. You can learn more about this HERE.
With Thanksgiving next week, I am thankful to be part of your students' educational journey here at Soundview. Our school truly represents family and community, it’s a very special place.
All the best,
Chris

One more thing…
On November 17th, 1869 the Suez Canal opened after ten years of construction and cost more than double the original estimate. Stretching 101 miles across Egypt‘s Isthmus of Suez, from Port Said in the north to Suez in the south, the waterway connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Indian Ocean.
