To All Our Soundview Family
Dear Soundview Families,
It was a great week back on campus. The Annual Campaign kicks off today! This school year our goal is $360,000, and we need your support! Each and every gift, large and small, makes a difference for our students. Make your gift HERE. To learn more or get engaged with the Annual Campaign contact Advancement Manager Ryan Wasserman HERE.
This week, our first- and second-graders went on a field trip to Imagine Children’s Museum. The museum’s interactive exhibits provide children an exciting, safe space to wander, discover, play and imagine. You can learn more about this museum HERE.
This morning, our sixth-grade class led the December all-school assembly. The class talked about what it means to be “balanced,” the December trait-of-the-month. We also heard a new poem from Mr. Travis, jokes and a skit from sixth-graders, and a rock song from Mr. Fred. You can learn more about our IB learner profile HERE.
Here are upcoming events opportunities in December:
Tonight is our Board’s Annual Campaign kick-off and State of the School event from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Soundview Performing Arts Center. We look forward to seeing those of you who are able to attend.

Admissions for the 2024-2025 school year are ongoing and we have received a very good response. Our Director of Enrollment Management, Victoria Nunes, and our student and parent ambassadors, have done a tremendous job working with our prospective families. If you are speaking with your friends or family about Soundview, please remember that the deadline for sibling applications is end of day today, December 1st. The deadline for financial aid for current families is due December 11th. The deadline for all other applications is February 2nd, 2024. For more information or questions, please contact Victoria HERE.
The ski/snowboard bus to Snoqalmie and lessons with Issaquah Ski School are still available this year at Soundview on Saturdays throughout the winter. Registration is currently open for the upcoming season which you can view HERE.
As a reminder as holidays approach, Soundview is a community that encourages kindness and gratitude. At the same time, we are strongly committed to the values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. The ability of families to give gifts to teachers and staff varies widely, and we want to nurture a community where all members feel included and valued. We also want all teachers and staff to feel recognized equally for their contributions. We encourage families to express gratitude through participation in Teacher Appreciation Week. Meaningful and personal expressions of gratitude, like letters and cards from our students, mean so much to educators and are always welcome.
Around the world and in different communities, December is a month of recognition and awareness. To learn about the diverse celebrations within our Soundview community and around the world, visit HERE.
With gratitude to all our families for making Soundview what it is today,
Chris

One more thing…
On December 1st, 1955 Rosa Parks inspired a bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama when she was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to make room for a white passenger. At the time, this was a violation of the city’s racial segregation laws. Park’s historic act of civil disobedience is often thought of as the event that started the Civil Rights Movement nationwide. You can learn more about this monumental event HERE.
