What a Joyful Project Night!
Dear Soundview Families,
This week, a Soundview family reached out to us. This family was inspired by Project Night and the opportunity to support our students through the Annual Campaign. They offered to boost the campaign this weekend by matching any and all gifts made to the Soundview Annual Campaign from now until next Monday! Make a gift and get it matched HERE.
While we’re on the subject, a big thanks to our most recent donors!
Project Night was a big success this week. We hope you and your student(s) enjoyed walking through the school, viewing, experiencing, and discussing projects from the first two units of the school year. You can view photos from Project above this message.
The fifth-grade Manatees class went on a field trip to the University of Washington campus this week. They participated in a pen pal program over the last two months with the UW’s Foundation for International Understanding Through Students program (FIUTS). The fifth-graders attended lunch and exchanged letters with their pen pal. You can learn more about the FIUTS program HERE. You can view photos from this field trip below.
Here are some events and opportunities as we near the end of the year:
The Before and After Care and Clubs options are now available to book for the Winter and Spring of 2024. We have a variety of popular options that fill up fast, please be sure to register your student by visiting HERE.
Admissions builds a healthy and thriving school community. Referrals from current families are most valuable. Several deadlines are approaching. Financial aid applications for current families are due December 11th. All other admission applications are due February 2nd, 2024. For more information or questions, please contact Victoria HERE.
Snow is falling! The ski/snowboard bus to Snoqalmie and lessons with Issaquah Ski School are still available this year at Soundview on Saturdays throughout the winter. Registration is currently open for the upcoming season which you can view HERE.
There is no school for students on Friday, December 15th. The school campus and offices will be closed from December 18th through January 1st for Winter Break. School resumes for students on Wednesday, January 3rd at the usual time.
Around the world and in different communities, December is a month of recognition and awareness:
December 10th is National Human Rights, an annual event that commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. The UDHR is a milestone document that outlines the basic principles of human rights, including the right to life, liberty, and security of person. You can learn more about this day HERE.
I am continuously inspired by the strong support from our Soundview families,
Chris

One more thing…
Private, not-for-profit schools rely on philanthropic contributions to meet their annual operating budgets. While tuition dollars cover most expenses, they typically do not cover all, leaving a gap in the budget. Schools fundraise to help make up the difference. Essentially, annual giving describes the initiatives that a nonprofit carries out to raise reliable funding throughout the year. While annual giving is essential throughout the year, the year-end giving season is the most important time of year for annual fundraising for independent schools. A few interesting facts to be aware of:
30% of all nonprofit donations happen during the month of December; 12% of all nonprofit giving happens within the last few days of the year.
62% of social donors are motivated by easy giving (make your gift HERE).
55% of social donors hear about giving opportunities through friends & family.
CASE (Council for Advancement and Support Education) is a global nonprofit association dedicated to educational advancement. You can learn more about the importance of annual giving by visiting their website HERE.
