Grandparents and Special Friends Day, Admissions Campaign, and Soundview’s Annual Giving Campaign

Soundview knows the value of its community!

Dear Soundview Family,

Let’s start with a special thank you to our Soundview Parent/Guardian Association for hosting an amazing community event last weekend at BOOLING! Our community is what makes Soundview what it is. BOOLING! was the perfect start to our year of work together as we strengthen Soundview.

Soundview’s Annual Giving Campaign is just around the corner. We start on December 1, 2022 and go through the end of the year. Your donation to this campaign is essential to sustaining Soundview School. This year we have a goal of $360,000 for 2022-2023. It seems far away, but we can get there, one step at a time.

The 2023-2024 Admissions Campaign is proving to be a tremendous success. We could not be more pleased with the response from our community and the hard work of our new Director of Enrollment Management, Victoria Nunes. Still, it all comes down to you. Please take a moment to tell your friends and family about this wonderful school. It is your personal endorsement that will make the admissions campaign a success.

On Friday, December 9, 2022, it’s Grandparents and Special Friends Day (GPSF)! We welcome Soundview students’ grandparents and special friends to tour the school and visit classrooms. We’ll host three sessions:

  • 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM for Early Childhood and kindergarten

  • 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM for Primary Years Program; and

  • 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for Middle Years Program)

We expect a pretty great turn-out, so please register your student’s guests as soon as possible HERE

Next Wednesday, November 9, 2022, Soundview will host a Community Coffee with me in the Soundview Performing Arts Center at 9:15 AM. We’re going to talk about how we teach and learn at Soundview. Please join us. Bring your Soundview coffee mugs (or get one).

Next Friday, November 11, 2022, is Veterans Day. This holiday is close to my own family’s heart. Students across the school spend time discussing the significance of veterans and why we honor them. Remember, Soundview is closed on Friday, November 11, 2022 to recognize Veterans Day.

Our hot lunch program is at risk! We have one more month to meet the minimum order requirement according to our lunch provider, Green Sprouts. We will remind you to make your orders between the 20th and 25th of each month. Read more about lunch orders and Green Sprouts HERE.

It’s getting cold! Please provide your students with plenty of layers of clothing. We continue to work and play outdoors throughout the winter. Gloves, hats, and rain pants are all essential to keeping students happy and productive.

As the weather changes, inclement weather can affect school operations. Soundview makes its own decisions about school closures or delays. We do not follow the local school district or other schools. You will be notified via text and email in the case of any changes to normal school operations. If you don’t hear from us, we’re open!

Finally, Governor Inslee’s emergency order for COVID expired on October 31, 2022. We’ve been meeting with Snohomish Health District and will continue to follow our existing policies.

All the best (and stay warm),

Chris

One more thing…

November is National Veterans and Military Families Month. That’s right–we recognize the contributions of our military’s families and support them! Learn more HERE.
