Smiles, Sunshine and a Return to Soundview Campus!

Our kindergarten class did a fantastic job leading today’s all-school assembly! Don’t miss the heartwarming moments and check out the photos in the link below!

Welcome back from spring break! I hope everyone had a restful and joyful week, it’s been great to welcome all of our students back on campus. Yesterday our seventh and eighth-grade students ventured out on a field trip to Cascadia Art Museum to explore the photography exhibit which compliments their current art unit in class. This morning we held an all-school assembly led by the kindergarten class. They focused on Earth Day and delved into the IB trait of the month, “thinker.” The students highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship and encouraged thoughtful reflection on how each individual can contribute positively to our planet. You can see photos from the assembly and field trip by viewing them below.

Soundview Families, we need your help and we’re so grateful for it! As part of our ongoing Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) accreditation process, we’re asking all families to take a few moments to complete our Soundview Parent Survey, available HERE.

Your feedback is incredibly important and will inform our self-study. This survey is designed to provide a well-rounded view of your family’s experience at Soundview and will help us celebrate our strengths and identify areas where we can grow. A few quick notes:

  • Please complete one survey per household.

  • All responses are anonymous and will be used exclusively for accreditation and school improvement planning.

Community Projects
Our eighth graders' Community Projects are in the middle of collecting important items to support their causes. These projects empower students to identify and address real-world needs within various communities through meaningful service learning. To explore the full list of inspiring projects and find opportunities to get involved, visit HERE

Calling All Van-Lifers and Creative Dreamers!
In their latest Design unit, our MYP students will be developing renovation proposals for custom vans, and we’re looking for members of the Soundview community to act as clients in this exciting project.

If you’ve ever imagined building your dream camper van or taking your business on the road, now’s your chance to bring that vision to life! As a volunteer client, you’ll take part in an initial interview, then provide feedback on student design drafts at least twice during the process. At the end of the unit, you’ll receive a scale model and a personalized vision board crafted just for your ideal van.

Interested in participating? Reach out to the Design teaching team—Mr. Fleming, Ms. Swarthout, and Ms. Vu as we’d love to have you involved!

Around the world and in different communities, April is a month of recognition and awareness:

  • Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22nd, is a global event dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting actions to protect the planet, with the goal of fostering a more sustainable and healthy environment for all. The first Earth Day was held in 1970, when a United States senator organized a national demonstration to address growing concerns about environmental damage. It has since grown into a global movement, with Earth Day celebrated in over 192 countries. Learn more about this day HERE

Thank you for being an essential part of our community, and for helping us continue to grow and thrive!

One more thing…
