Spring Benefit Event Registration Now Open!

Dear Soundview Families,

We're thrilled to announce that registration for the Soundview Spring Benefit Event is open now! Register HERE. Join us for an evening of celebration and community as we come together to support our school's mission. This is a ticketed event and registration is required to attend. Childcare is available during the event. Register for childcare HERE. This year's theme, 'You Belong Here,' underscores Soundview’s mission and priorities.

We will be raising funds for all programs that demonstrate Soundview’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Meeting and exceeding this year’s fundraising goal ensures continuity of these programs. Soundview simply is not what it is without your support. There will be participation levels for all.

We have one reminder for next week:

  • Join us at our Early Childhood through Fourth Grade Spring Showcase March 21st, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in classrooms and hallways throughout our campus. This is an opportunity for our youngest students to tour their parents/guardians and showcase their spring projects and class work. The format is self-guided. You will enter the building through the Performing Arts Center to begin your exploration of the projects throughout the school.

  • Childcare is available from 3:30-4:00 pm. When you arrive for the Showcase you will enter the PAC and we will bring your student to you.

Please read a note from 8th grader Evyn with her call to action for her Community Project:

“Did you know that 1 in 5 girls miss school because they don’t have access to period products?

Every month, girls miss school because of their periods. With each day of school they miss, they fall behind on classwork. This leads to them getting bad grades, failing their classes, feeling left out and like no one cares. All because of period poverty.

Period poverty is the lack of access to proper period products. Women and girls who experience period poverty consistently have to experience their period without period products. This is a severe issue, but not a lot is being done, despite the obvious need.

So I, Evyn Miller, have decided to take action. And I need your help.

For my 8th grade community project, I am hosting a period product supply drive in partnership with SeattleT2P2. SeattleT2P2 is a local organization run by moms dedicated to providing women and girls with period products. My goal for this supply drive is to collect 100 boxes of pads and tampons, which will keep over 150 girls in school!”

Please donate to help end period poverty.

Dates: Monday, March 18th to Friday, March 29th
Accepted Items: Boxes of pads & tampons
Goal: 100 boxes
Location: Donation bins are in the entrance hallway.

One more thing…
On March 15th, 2021 Deb Haaland was sworn in as Secretary of the Interior. She is the first Indigenous person to serve as a cabinet secretary in U.S. history.

Incoming President Joe Biden announced his nomination of Deb Haaland, first-term congresswoman from New Mexico, to serve as Secretary of the Interior on December 17, 2020. Three months later, the Senate confirmed her for the job by a 51-to-40 vote. Haaland, a member of the Laguna Pueblo, made history as the first Native American person to oversee the Interior Department. You can learn more about this HERE
