Campus Highlights: Soundview is Buzzing with Activity!

Soundview’s Spirit Week is just around the corner! For those who want to join in, it promises to be a joyful week full of fun activities, themed outfits, and school spirit all across campus!

Dear Soundview Families,

It’s been another enriching week on campus, filled with meaningful activities and moments of growth for both students and staff. Yesterday, we enjoyed the Spring Bands & Orchestra concert. The concert was a true celebration of their hard work and passion, with several inspiring duets and courageous solo performances. Congratulations to the students and Mrs. Higgins for putting on a wonderful concert for all of us to see.

Meanwhile, our early childhood class welcomed members of the Lynnwood Police department for a presentation that centered about safety and community. Our kindergarteners partnered read Maddi’s Fridge with a Soundview alumni volunteer. They learned about food insecurity and the importance of compassion. As their community action, the group assembled bags of food to be delivered to shelters for children in need.

Today our 5th-grade students Celebrated Earth Month in North City Park! They participated in an environmental work party to help push the boundaries of a few of their sites. The students worked in restoring sections of the park by removing invasive species and planting native plants. This experience also equips them with valuable skills they can bring back to our Soundview forest. Discover more about the work party at North City Park HERE.

Take a look at all of the memorable moments from this week’s events below.

Our 5th–8th grade students delivered an outstanding performance last night—be sure to check out the photos capturing the magic of the event below!

Yesterday, our Kindergarten class had a meaningful learning experience with a Soundview alum as they supported her service project. The students explored what it means to experience hunger and discovered ways to help those in need. Don’t miss the heartwarming photos below of them packaging food bags for children in our community.

Our Early Childhood students enjoyed an engaging visit from local law enforcement, where they learned valuable lessons about safety. Don’t miss the photos capturing their excitement and curiosity below!"

Admissions
Soundview is enrolling for the 2025-2026 school year. Our dedicated and amazing Director of Enrollment, Victoria Nunes, has been conducting multiple tours each week for families interested in Soundview. If you know someone who is interested in a Soundview education please have them contact Victoria by clicking HERE

Accreditation
We still need your help
with the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) accreditation process! We’re asking all families to take a few moments to complete our Soundview Parent Survey, available HERE. This survey is designed to provide a well-rounded view of your family’s experience at Soundview and will help us celebrate our strengths and identify areas where we can grow. A few quick notes:

  • Please complete one survey per household.

  • All responses are anonymous and will be used exclusively for accreditation and school improvement planning.

Support Our Future Leaders: MYP Students Need Your Help!
Our MYP students will be developing renovation proposals for custom vans, and they’re still looking for members of the Soundview community to act as clients in this exciting project.

They’ll be building your dream camper van or helping your business hit the road, and it’s a chance to bring that vision to life! As a volunteer client, you’ll take part in an initial interview, then provide feedback on student design drafts at least twice during the process. At the end of the unit, you’ll receive a scale model and a personalized vision board crafted just for your ideal van.

Interested in participating? Reach out to the Design teaching team—Mr. Fleming, Ms. Swarthout, and Ms. Vu as we’d love to have you involved!

Around the world and in different communities, May is a month of recognition and awareness:

  • May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This is observed in the United States during the month of May, and recognizes the contributions and influence of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7th, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10th, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks were Chinese immigrants. You can learn more about this HERE.

  • May is Jewish American Heritage Month. Each May, hundreds of organizations and Americans of all backgrounds join together to discover, explore, and celebrate the vibrant and varied American Jewish experience from the dawn of our nation to the present day. You can learn more about this HERE

  • May is Mental Health Awareness Month.  Mental Health Awareness Month was established in 1949 by Mental Health America to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in Americans' lives and to celebrate recovery from mental illness. The month is observed with media, local events, and film screenings. Mental health awareness is the ongoing effort to reduce the stigma around mental illness and mental health conditions by sharing our personal experiences. Often, because of misconceptions about mental health and mental fitness, people often suffer in silence and their conditions go untreated. You can learn more about this HERE

Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine everyone,
